Job Description:

FUNCTION:
The Administrative Director for the Radiation Oncology Patient Care Services provides direction of the overall multi-site clinical patient care, and financial operations of the Division of Radiation Oncology. The Administrative Director is responsible for clinical performance of registered nurses, mid-level practitioners and support staff. The Administrative Director collaborates with Division's administrator in the development and implementation of the strategic plan inclusive of marketing and outreach initiatives.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The patient care multi-site services of the Division of Radiation Oncology include the analysis, planning and delivery of professional nursing care to patients receiving radiation treatment and clinical support for the radiation oncology faculty in four different locations:


The multi-site clinical services of the Division of Radiation Oncology require Registered professional nurses to support patient care and coordination of clinical services for the patients within the centers, the main center, and other referring institutions or physicians within the community. Direct support of faculty practice requires the assistance of mid-level practitioners. Other support staffs required are: Patient Services Coordinators, receptionists and patient care assistants.


Under the direction of the center director, three Nurse Managers and one Assistant Nurse Manager manage the multi-site daily clinical operations and the supervision of staff performance. Other duties of the nurse managers include staff orientation and education, quality improvement activities, and the dissemination and implementation of standards, policies, and procedures. They also assist with physician template maintenance for patient appointments; they monitor the safety of the facilities, and participate in the design and execution of internal controls.

EXPERIENCE: Required:Eight years of clinical experience with two of the eight in highly responsible management position of direct patient care activities. Experience in radiation oncology is preferred.


EDUCATION:
Minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.

Preferred: Masters degree in business administration or health care administration, oncology nursing administration, or comparable experience.
