Sr. Infrastructure IT Engineer

PURPOSE:

Role will focus on data and voice communications systems engineering with responsibility for the design implementation and support of all company communications systems, including the integration of LAN, WAN, and VPN networks, LMDS and MMDS point-to-multipoint systems, and terrestrial Fiber Optic networks supporting the business.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Communications Engineering or equivalent experience. CCIE professional certification is a plus.

The ideal candidate should 8-10 years of managing the following;

- Cisco Switch, Router, and Load Balancing Equipment, Cisco Pix Firewall, Cisco VPN Concentrator, Cisco Call Manager and Cisco Unity, SNMP network management, a must.

Job Description

- Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP-4), MPLS, WAN circuit experience is a must.

- Demonstrate proficiency with the design, provisioning and troubleshooting of voice circuits with various technologies such as T1/T3 circuits, frame relay, PPP and ISDN PRI/BRI.

- Experience in deploying and supporting WAN, MPLS, VOIP is a must.

- Experience Designing LAN environments using CISCO equipment 6509,4510,4507,3750,2960,2950

- Experience in VPN tunneling, IP sec and SIP.

- Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Cluster, IIS and SQL knowledge is required

- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project.

- Wide breadth of hands-on networking, troubleshooting and project management skills.

- The ideal candidate must be able to gather requirements, structure tactical /strategic solutions, and generate proposals.

- Have excellent verbal and written communications skills.

- Leadership and Management experience desired, should posses the ability to work in team environment as well as be self-directed and self-motivated.

- Some travel is required

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Continued education in infrastructure and network disciplines. Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge of industry practices, trends, and information technology products to enhance the division’s capabilities and reduce costs. Financial management, Safety, Quality, and Performance Management Training. May perform more advanced functions as part of training and development.

RELATIONSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

Role will focus on data and voice communications systems engineering with responsibility for the management of the infrastructure systems, to include design, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance.

Daily operational meetings to discuss current and pending issues and works to resolve and expedite resolution. Manages relationships with suppliers, partners and business units.

Works with outsourced IT groups as well as internal IT team members to ensure IT infrastructure is appropriately configured and developed to support business environment.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITY:

Receives direction from infrastructure manager to set broad objectives, interpret policy issues and develop new concepts. Candidate will be a technical lead within the Infrastructure team and be responsible for contributing toward the design, architecture and Level 4 support of WAN, LAN, DNS, Network Security, VOIP, Wireless, and network management tools. This includes planning, specification, implementation, administration and maintenance of equipment services for all the above responsibilities in the company corporate office and associated remote sites. Candidate must be able to offer independent judgment, consistently demonstrate creativity and innovation to find solutions to multi-faceted and/or time sensitive, complex problems.

Under Managerial guidance, makes appropriate decisions to handle system errors that are either detected through monitoring and/or reported from user community. Must make timely decisions to handle downtime situations that could halt production as a result of system failures.

Major  Duties and Responsibilities Essential function of the job

·         Responsibilities include the design, architect and provide L 3-4 Support of Cisco-based Routers, Switches, Gateways, Security Solutions, Wireless Solutions and Network Management Solutions across WAN/LAN.

·         Provide recommendations on architectural changes and design enhancements to the infrastructure to improve reliability, performance, reduce cost, and anticipate Company growth and acquisition.

·         Assist in the creation / update policies, procedures, and documentation to adapt to new technologies and business requirements

·         Design, provision and troubleshoot voice circuits with various technologies

·         Maintain detailed knowledge of company network standards and the overall local, regional and global network environments

·         Coordinates with communication service providers for installation, upgrade and disconnect of data and voice circuits and account management/maintenance agreements.

·         Evaluate/document emerging network technologies to establish future directions.

·         Determine tools and procedures to monitor, analyze, and baseline voice and data networks.

 

 

·         Provide project management and mentoring to outsourced vendors and IT related internal projects

·         Participates in the development of annual IT and business related strategic planning activities for supporting the business objectives of all supported businesses.

·         Design and provision carrier services in relation to business requirements.
